How can we help you?

Original Thermit® encompasses a range of welding processes that enable a safe, efficient and durable connection of different rail types. Each process is tailored to specific requirements and areas of application.

Our Thermit® Welding Processes in Detail:

Flat-Bottom Rail Welding – Proven Solutions for Every Challenge

Our portfolio of established and innovative Thermit® welding processes for flat-bottom rails meet the needs of modern rail infrastructure, offering reliability and robustness for all track systems, including high-speed, heavy-haul, and high-density lines.

Developed for practical use on site, Goldschmidt’s solutions enable efficient application, short welding times and high track availability, consistently achieving the highest weld quality, even for high-strength rail grades.

Grooved Rail Welding – Efficient and Safe Solutions for Urban Infrastructure

Grooved rail welding at municipal tram track

Safe and reliable joining of grooved rails requires processes that combine speed, accuracy, and adaptability. Thermit® welding enables rapid, high-quality connections across different rail grades and is especially effective for geometrically complex joints, as frequently encountered in tramways and urban transport networks.

Crane Rail Welding – Precision and Performance for the Toughest Demands

Goldschmidt’s advanced Thermit® welding solutions are tailored to the stringent requirements of crane rails. With precision, efficiency and safety as key features, these solutions deliver consistent, high-quality welds even under demanding conditions.

Head Repair Welding – Economic Rail Maintenance with Proven Quality

Welded rail joint with Thermit® head repair

Effective maintenance is key to keeping rail infrastructure in optimal condition while reducing lifecycle costs and ensuring safety. Head Repair Welding provides a high-quality and cost-effective solution for the targeted repair of isolated defects on the running surface of flat-bottom rails, such as squats, indentations, spalling and wheel burns.

This process is straightforward to apply and ensures consistent results, helping to maximise track availability and extend service life. The Thermit® Head Repair (THR) process is also suitable for high-strength rail grades and for refurbishing old welds, even off-centre of the old web and produced by Thermit®, flash-butt, or gas pressure welding.
