Thermit® products were first manufactured in Rainham, Essex, in 1926, establishing an early foundation for the application of Thermit® technology within the UK rail industry.
In 1958, Thermit Welding (GB) Limited was formally established to manufacture and distribute Thermit® products, strengthening local capability and support for railway infrastructure projects across the country.
In 1978, the company relocated to its current Rainham facility, expanding its operational base and reinforcing its long-term commitment to serving the UK rail market.
To enhance customer support and training capacity, Thermit Welding opened a dedicated training and product development facility in Derby in 2000. The site was established to better serve customers in the North of England and Scotland while supporting the continued development of rail welding expertise.
