The company specializes in the production and supply of Thermit® welding consumables for rail joining applications, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of railway networks across South Africa and an expanding customer base throughout Africa.

Thermitrex was founded in South Africa in 1971 as the first company in the country dedicated to Thermit® rail joining technology. The company established local manufacturing capabilities to support the growing requirements of the South African rail sector.
Over the decades, Thermitrex has built extensive experience in the production and supply of Thermit® welding consumables, becoming one of the region’s most established and experienced providers of rail welding solutions.
Today, Thermitrex continues to support railway operators and infrastructure owners throughout South Africa while expanding its footprint across Africa through local manufacturing, certified training services, and technical support for rail welding operations.
