One of its predecessor companies, P.C. Wagner Elektro Thermit Schweißgesellschaft m.b.H., was founded in 1924. In 1946, Elaugen Schweiss- und Schleifarbeiten Gesellschaft m.b.H. was established in Essen, further expanding the expertise in rail welding and rail grinding.
In 2006, both companies merged to form Goldschmidt Thermit Railservice (Österreich) GmbH, creating the Goldschmidt Group's dedicated rail maintenance service provider in Austria. Since then, the company has combined decades of practical experience with modern maintenance technologies to support railway infrastructure operators throughout Austria and, where required, beyond national borders.
